If you are a United Kingdom resident, you can easily apply for a US tax number (ITIN) on Form W-7 from the United Kingdom using a certifying acceptance agent (CAA).
A certifying acceptance agent has a contract with the IRS to check both the correct completion of Form W-7 and ensure the correct attachments for the reason code used are submitted. The certifying acceptance agent will also certify and sign the identity documents so you do not have to post them to the IRS in the USA.
How can I obtain an ITIN from the UK?
